My take on
auto-editor (WyattBlue/auto-editor) after trying it on a Linux box:
- β
It just worked. One command, no settings, and the 42-second clip came out at 17 seconds.
- β‘ Fast: about 4 seconds on a CPU-only computer.
- π¦ Easy to get: I used the ready-made Linux download (version 31.7.2), not a build from source.
- ποΈ It cuts by loudness, not meaning. It removes the quiet parts; it doesn't know which words matter. The default was fine on this clip, so I didn't need to change the threshold.
- π Great for trimming talking-head recordings before you edit them for real.
"I gave it a 42-second clip and got back a 17-second one in 4 seconds. That's the Descript silence trick, for free."
